The Australian construction industry is growing, presently impelled by infrastructural development projects and resident construction. However, the growth rate is also saddled with challenges impeding smooth operations, including skills shortages, spiralling materials costs, and heightening regulatory imperatives.
More importantly, from a safety perspective, there has been continued emphasis by the industry on the need for improvement in workplace safety through measures that include introducing new safety regulations, tightening the screw on existing ones, and more on safety training and education.
Of note, too, is how technology is applied in the construction industry to inspect sites with drones, 3D-print construction material, and use Building Information Modeling for project management.
